Unfortunately, this old student research project may be useful in the future. Therefore, here is the English translation for all interested parties. Please keep in mind that it was made around 2010 by students. (21.12.2023)
INTRODUCTION In order to counteract the feeling of stagnation, people need movement. That's why we focus on mobility in our concept, because mobility is a piece of lived freedom. The rebuilding and expansion of Gaza Strip's largely destroyed infrastructure is therefore the main point of our concept. The large-scale improvement of mobility is to be accompanied by the opening of a network of various facilities in the larger cities of the Gaza Strip. Our planning intervention thus encompasses two levels of scale: firstly, the cities as a whole, and secondly, the urban area (where we have specifically addressed Gaza City). The mobility axes traverse the country in a north-south direction and are designed for better national connectivity, thus laying the foundation for cross-boarder visions. In our draft, we will traverse the Gaza Strip with three mobile strings running from north to south. These three mobility axes are, so to speak, three different different types of "veins of life". For those, we had to take into account existing or pre-existing structures, which is particularly evident in the central main connection axis, which is used by individual car traffic and first railroads and is the main connecting road in the Gaza Strip. The motorized connection axis is intended to link the cities and camps with each other and consists of the existing Salah Aldeen main road and a newly built railroad line, which is oriented towards the disused railroad line. This main axis gives Gazans the opportunity to move quickly within the borders, but also when the borders are opened - to the Arab world or to Europe, as we will explain below. The two outer lines, one of which is to run along the coast and the other along the current border strip, are to be used as axes for non-motorized traffic, The existing quality of the beach is to be emphasized by making this area accessible to the public, revitalizing it with leisure and sports facilities and, above all, using it as a walking route. On this kind of beach promenade, we want to offer the opportunity to run through the land on a marathon length route. But it should also be possible to surf, swim or play here. To make this happen, sports areas will be provided for soccer, volleyball and parkour, which is popular in the Gaza Strip. The line along the route on the border with Israel represents a connecting and recreational path in the reactivated nature, in which agricultural and economic areas can also be used. Along citrus groves, this additional mobility route runs from north to south in the form of a cycle and footpath. The wadi between Nuseirat and Gaza, as well as desalination plants, can be used to supply water to the recreational and agricultural areas. In terms of cross-border mobility, the middle strand plays an important role. The continuation of the rail link across the border was created as a reference to what is probably Europe's most legendary rail link with the Middle East - the Orient Express. We understand the railroad connection to the Gaza Strip as a long-distance line of the railroad that once stretched from Paris to Istanbul and thus one could also imagine in the future that this is a possibility to connect the Gaza Strip with foreign countries. It would be possible to extend the line from Istanbul to the Gaza Strip via the touristically attractive cities of Ankara, Damascus, Beirut and Tel Aviv to Gaza City and continue southwards towards Cairo. |
Ein kleiner Exkurs in mein bezahltes Hobby: Architektur. Und "was man da so macht..." Jedenfalls muss man beim Diplom nicht nur ein Bild von einem Haus malen und gebastelt werden Modelle auch nicht. Das nur als kleine Information am Rande. ^^
